UP Ration Card Status Check (Application and Card Details)
"Status" means two things in UP: the progress of a new ration card application, and whether an existing card and its members are active. This guide covers both, with official links and honest caveats.
- New application status
- Reference ID from Jan Seva Kendra, then OTP (as reported)
- Existing card status
- Card search or dealer list on fcs.up.gov.in
- Member status at shop
- Ask the dealer to check on the ePoS machine
- Inactive cards
- May be disabled after 6 months without lifting grain (2025 Order, as reported)
- Helpline
- ONORC 14445
People who search "UP ration card status" (राशन कार्ड स्टेटस) usually want one of two answers. If you applied for a new card at a Jan Seva Kendra, you want to know whether it was approved. If you already have a card, you want to know if it is still active and whether every family member is on it. These are checked in different ways.
This is an independent guide, not a government site. We could not open the UP portals directly while writing this page, so the menu names come from third-party guides (ClearTax and a Tribune sponsored article). Screens may look different. We never ask for your reference ID, card number, Aadhaar or OTP.
Two kinds of status at a glance
| You want to know | Where to check | You need |
|---|---|---|
| Has my new card application been approved? | "Ration Card Application Status" on fcs.up.gov.in (as reported), or the Jan Seva Kendra | Reference ID or ration ID, mobile for OTP |
| Is my card active? Are all members listed? | Card search or dealer list on fcs.up.gov.in; ePoS check at the ration shop | Card number, or district and dealer name |
| Did grain get lifted on my card? | Mera Ration app (recent transactions) | Card or Aadhaar details in the app |
Check new ration card application status
When a Jan Seva Kendra operator submits your application on the UP e-District portal, you get a reference ID, as reported by the Tribune. Keep that receipt safe. ClearTax describes these steps:
- Open the official portal fcs.up.gov.in.
- Look for "Ration Card Application Status". If you do not see it, look for any "Status" or "आवेदन की स्थिति" link.
- Type the reference ID or ration ID from your receipt, then the captcha.
- Tap "Get OTP for Application Status". An OTP goes to the mobile number given in the application.
- Type the OTP on the same screen to see the status.
If the option is missing or does not work, go back to the Jan Seva Kendra where you applied. They can usually see the application on the e-District system. You can also ask at the tehsil or district supply office.
ClearTax के अनुसार fcs.up.gov.in पर "Ration Card Application Status" में रेफरेंस आईडी या राशन आईडी और कैप्चा डालें, फिर OTP से स्टेटस देखें।
Check if your existing card is active
To see your card and its members, use the eligibility list on fcs.up.gov.in. You can search by card number (which may need an OTP to your registered mobile) or browse district, town or block, dealer and the card list. The full steps are on our UP ration card list page.
The most reliable live check is at the ration shop. When the dealer authenticates your thumb on the ePoS machine, it shows whether your card and units are active. If a member's name is missing on the portal but the card works at the shop, ask the dealer which members are active.
What different statuses usually mean
We do not have an official list of the exact status words used by the UP portal. These are the general meanings people come across. Always ask the office if you are unsure.
- Pending or under verification: the application is with officials, often for field verification. Wait, and keep your receipt.
- Approved: the card has been sanctioned. Ask your dealer or supply office when you can start lifting grain.
- Rejected: ask for the reason in writing. Common problems are missing documents or eligibility issues; see UP ration card eligibility.
- Waiting list: under the TPDS (Control) Amendment Order, 2025, as reported, new cards are issued first in, first out, and states must publish a real-time waiting list on public portals. We could not confirm where UP shows this list.
Card disabled or units suspended?
Two rules explain most sudden "inactive" problems:
- No grain lifted for six months: according to news reports on the 2025 Order, such cards are temporarily disabled, then verified, with e-KYC due within three months. In a September 2026 report, trak.in said about 1.58 crore beneficiaries nationwide were to be disabled from 1 October 2026 for inactivity. A UP-specific figure is not confirmed.
- e-KYC not done: in Jhansi, Amar Ujala reported in August 2025 that units without KYC would get no ration, stay suspended for three months, and then be deleted. Finish e-KYC at the ration shop to avoid this.
Track your ration lifting
The Mera Ration app from the National Informatics Centre shows entitlement details and recent transactions, according to the official PIB factsheet. This helps you see whether grain was lifted on your card this month, which matters if family members live in different places under One Nation One Ration Card. Other features listed by third-party guides, such as e-card view, are not officially confirmed. See UP ration card download for more.
Safety while checking status
- The status OTP is only for the official screen. Never share it with callers who say they can "speed up" approval.
- Officials do not need your OTP over the phone to approve a ration card.
- Keep your reference ID private. Do not post your receipt on social media.
- This website cannot check status for you and never asks for your reference ID, Aadhaar or OTP.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check my UP ration card application status online?
Third-party guides say to open fcs.up.gov.in, choose Ration Card Application Status, type your reference ID or ration ID and the captcha, then verify with the OTP sent to your mobile. Labels may change. If it does not work, ask the Jan Seva Kendra where you applied, as they can usually see the application.
Where do I get the reference ID for my ration card application?
As reported by the Tribune, when a Jan Seva Kendra or CSC operator submits your application on the UP e-District portal, you are given a reference ID. It is usually printed on your receipt. Keep the receipt safe, because you need the ID to check the status or follow up at the supply office.
How can I check if my UP ration card is active?
Search your card on fcs.up.gov.in or find it in your dealer's card list. The most reliable check is at the ration shop: when your thumb is authenticated on the ePoS machine, it shows whether the card and units are active. Cards with no lifting for six months may be temporarily disabled.
Why is my ration card showing inactive in UP?
Common reasons are no grain lifted for six months, pending e-KYC, or removal after verification. According to news reports, the 2025 Order temporarily disables cards with six months of no lifting, with e-KYC and verification within three months. Visit your dealer and supply office to find the exact reason.
How long does it take to get a new ration card in UP?
We could not find an official time limit for UP in our sources. As reported, the 2025 central Order says new cards are issued first in, first out and states must publish a real-time waiting list. Check your application status regularly and ask the supply office if it stays pending for a long time.
Can I check UP ration card status without OTP?
The application status and card number search reportedly need an OTP to your registered mobile. Without it, you can browse the dealer-wise card list on fcs.up.gov.in, which usually needs no OTP, or ask your ration dealer to check on the ePoS machine. Never ask a stranger to receive the OTP for you.
