How to check status on a state portal

The general pattern is similar in most states, though labels change from site to site.

1. Open nfsa.gov.in and find your state's ration card portal on the Ration Card State Portals page, or use the direct links in the table below.
2. On the state site, look for words like "RC Details", "Ration Card Details", "Citizen" or "Application Status".
3. Type the card number or application number, and any other details asked, such as district, month and year.
4. Fill the captcha. If an OTP is sent, it goes to the mobile registered with the card.
5. Read the result. Note the card type, members, and fair price shop.
6. If the screen looks different from this description, look around the home page menu or ask your local supply office.

This table uses only the RC details or RCMS addresses that nfsa.gov.in lists on its Ration Card State Portals page (updated 12 October 2026). We have not opened each state site ourselves. If a link does not load, or no address is shown, go to nfsa.gov.in and use the current link it gives for your state.

A note on these sites: on many state systems the public reports are designed for district and shop-level data. A search by card number is confirmed only for a few states. If you cannot find a search box, your state may show status only through its citizen services or the office where you applied.

Check status in the Mera Ration app

The Mera Ration app, developed by the National Informatics Centre, is available on Android and iOS. Its official features include entitlement details, recent transactions, nearby fair price shops and migrant registration, and the Play Store listing mentions notifications and the status of requests submitted. Mera Ration 2.0 was launched on 20 August 2024, as reported. If your state's portal is hard to use, the app's recent transactions screen is a quick way to see whether your card is being used. Some features may not work for every state.

Why a card can show as inactive

Under the TPDS (Control) Amendment Order, 2025, which came into force on 22 July 2025 as reported:

• e-KYC of all eligible households is mandatory every five years.
• Cards with no grain lifted for 6 months are temporarily disabled, followed by field verification and e-KYC within 3 months.
• Duplicate cards are disabled, with 3 months to prove eligibility.
• New cards are issued first-in, first-out, and states must show a real-time waiting list on their portals.

A trak.in report on 30 September 2026 said about 1.58 crore beneficiaries' entitlements were to be temporarily disabled nationwide from 1 October 2026 after 6 months of not lifting grain. If your card shows inactive, complete e-KYC at any fair price shop or through the Mera eKYC app where your state allows it. National e-KYC coverage was 86% as of October 2025, according to PRS.

Common problems and fixes

• No OTP: the mobile number on the card may be outdated. Ask your supply office how to update it.
• "Record not found": check you typed the number correctly, then check the ration card list for your shop.
• Application pending a long time: since 2025, new cards are issued first come, first served from a waiting list. Ask the office where you applied for your position.

Stay safe

Fake "ration card status" websites and callers are common. Never share an OTP or your Aadhaar number with anyone who calls offering to check or fix your status. Use only official sites linked from nfsa.gov.in. No genuine status check requires a payment to an agent. If you need help, call 14445 or your state's toll-free number from the nfsa.gov.in toll-free list.
