Ration Card List: How to Find Your Name (All States)
Every state publishes its NFSA ration card list on its own portal, usually arranged by district, then town or block, then ration shop. Here is how to search it and what to do if your name is missing.
- Ration cards in India
- 20.57 crore cards, 79.61 crore beneficiaries (Oct 2025, PRS)
- Where lists are kept
- State portals, linked from nfsa.gov.in
- Usual search path
- District, then town or block, then fair price shop
- Cards deleted 2020 to 2025
- About 2.49 crore (Rajya Sabha reply, as reported)
- ONORC helpline
- 14445
The ration card list (राशन कार्ड सूची) is the record of every National Food Security Act card in a state, with the members on each card and the fair price shop it is attached to. There is no single all-India list you can search by name. Each state keeps its own, and the central portal nfsa.gov.in links to them.
Lists also change all the time. Between 2020 and 2025, states deleted about 2.49 crore cards, according to a Rajya Sabha reply reported in December 2025, while new cards keep being added. So it is worth checking your name every now and then. We are an independent guide, not a government website, and we do not hold any list ourselves. For Uttar Pradesh, see our detailed UP ration card list guide.
How state ration card lists are usually arranged
Most state lists follow a location tree, because each card is attached to one fair price shop (FPS):
- Open your state's ration card portal. Use the table below or the Ration Card State Portals page on nfsa.gov.in.
- Look for a report such as "RC Details", "Ration Card Details", "Beneficiary Register" or "District-wise Ration Card Details".
- Choose your district.
- Choose your town or ward (urban) or your block and village (rural).
- Choose your fair price shop or dealer.
- Open the list of cards under that shop and look for the head of family's name or the card number.
- Open the card to see all members.
Menu labels differ by state and change over time. If you cannot find a step, look for a search by card number instead, or ask your ration dealer which shop code your card is attached to.
State ration card portals and card counts
The links come only from the RC details column of nfsa.gov.in's Ration Card State Portals page (updated 12 October 2026). We have not opened each state site ourselves. If a link does not load, or no address is shown, open nfsa.gov.in and use the current link it gives for your state. Card counts are as shown on nfsa.gov.in state pages, except UP, which is from a Lok Sabha answer.

Gramin (rural) and urban lists
People often search for a "gramin list" (ग्रामीण सूची). There is usually no separate rural list. Instead, rural cards appear under blocks and villages or gram panchayats, and urban cards under towns or wards, inside the same state list. NFSA coverage rules differ for rural and urban areas: nationally the Act covers up to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population, and each state's share was fixed by the Planning Commission using NSSO 2011-12 data.
Is there a "new list" for 2026?
Many websites advertise a "ration card new list". In practice, state lists are live databases updated as cards are approved, changed or deleted. There is no single national new list. The TPDS (Control) Amendment Order, 2025 asks states to issue new cards first-in, first-out and to publish a real-time waiting list on their portals. If you applied recently, look for a waiting list or application status option on your state portal, or check your ration card status.
Be careful with videos and sites that promise a "new list PDF" in exchange for your number. Use only the official portal.
Your name is missing. What now?
- Check the right shop. Cards are listed under one fair price shop. Ask your dealer for the shop code.
- Check spelling. Search by card number if the portal allows it.
- Check if the card is inactive. Under the 2025 Order, cards with no grain lifted for 6 months are temporarily disabled until verification and e-KYC. Deletions also follow verification drives. In August 2025 the centre flagged over 1.17 crore possibly ineligible cardholders for states to verify, as reported.
- Ask your supply office. They can tell you whether the card was disabled, deleted or moved, and what to do.
- New card needed? In UP, see how to apply for a new ration card.
Who decides who is on the list
Under NFSA, states identify Priority Households using their own inclusion and exclusion criteria, while Antyodaya families are the poorest households. Eligibility rules therefore differ by state. For example, Goa's published guidelines exclude households where a member owns a four-wheeler or is a government employee. For UP, see our eligibility guide. If you think you were wrongly excluded, ask your state's grievance channel, listed with toll-free numbers on nfsa.gov.in.
Safety tips
- Search lists only on official sites linked from nfsa.gov.in.
- Never give an OTP or Aadhaar number to someone offering to "add you to the new list".
- No one can sell you a place on the list. New cards are issued from a waiting list.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check my name in the ration card list?
Open your state's ration card portal from the list on nfsa.gov.in. Look for a report like RC Details or district-wise ration card details, then choose your district, town or block, and your fair price shop. Find your card in the shop's list and open it to see members.
Is there a new ration card list for 2026?
There is no single national new list. State lists are live and change as cards are added or removed. Since the 2025 TPDS Amendment Order, states must issue new cards first come, first served and show a real-time waiting list on their portals.
How do I see the gramin ration card list?
Rural cards are usually inside the same state list, arranged by block and village or gram panchayat. Choose your district, then your block and village, then your fair price shop. There is usually no separate gramin list to download.
Why is my name not in the ration card list?
You may be looking under the wrong shop, the spelling may differ, or the card may be disabled after 6 months without lifting grain or deleted after verification. Ask your dealer for the shop code, then ask the supply office about the card's status.
Can I search the ration card list by Aadhaar?
It depends on the state, and for most states this is not confirmed. Many lists are arranged by location and shop. Use only the official state portal. Never type Aadhaar into unofficial websites that claim to search the list for you.
How many ration cards are there in India?
PRS reports 20.57 crore ration cards covering 79.61 crore beneficiaries as of October 2025. A Rajya Sabha reply reported in December 2025 gave 20,29,52,938 cards. Figures differ by date because states keep adding and deleting cards.
